6.9 – Starting and Stopping Activities

There are, of course, activities that you may have started at various points in your life or likewise stopped doing. You might have played a sport or an instrument earlier in life, then stopped. Or you may have picked up new hobbies or habits along the way. Here are two verbs we will be using:

začít – ‘to start’

přestat – ‘to stop’

For our purposes now we’re mostly going to be talking about things in the past, i.e. when you started and stopped doing something, so we won’t need to worry about any other conjugated forms (though we will in unit 9).
