7.4 – pozdě – ‘late’ vs. včas ‘on time’

If you want to say that you are running late, you use the word pozdě, which we have just recently learned, plus chodit/jít – remembering of course that chodit will be used for frequently being late vs. jít for being late one time or at the present moment.

Finally, you can use the word zpoždění ‘delay, lateness’ with the verb mít. In Czech you say “I have a delay (lit. lateness)”, and not a literal translation “I am late”.
